Today we measured the velocity and position of a cart on a ramp.
We measured the height and length so that we could find the angle of incline.
The Goals was to gather data to prove:
• that the acceleration of the cart was constant acceleration
• to compare the acceleration we calculated with the theoretical component of the acceleration due to gravity.
For each of 2 trials your data table should include:
a.Height=
b.length=
c. acceleration from line of best fit for the portion of data with straight line for V.
d. Position, X and velocity, V data for the relevant section of the plot.
For each trial you should perform the following "processing the data":
Calculations:
1. theoretical acceleration from ramp angle and components of g.
2. Plot a graph of velocity squared,v2 versus displacment,x and calculate the acceleration from the slope.
Compare your calculations of acceleration, account for difference and determine if acceleration down the ramp is constant.
Try to have this done by friday. good luck.
