Changing things up with a Change in direction without a "Change in Direction"

This next Quest HW is short and sweet.  Hopefully it will allow you to practice somethings that you have encountered in Math an/or General Physics.

Give this assignment a good look and we can discuss them on Monday: "Vector Basics"
Read over the first several sections in Chapter 4 of Knight and use the vector basics in chapter 3 as a resource.

Projectile Motion Video Analysis labs:
Get a group together and propose a lab- consult with me by
                                                          Wednesday.
We need to get collecting video data while the weather is still good.

Week of Sept 15

For Class on Wednesday:
I.   Have some QUESTions ready for class discussion.
Have solutions ready for the AP 2013 question (green sheet)

II. Come prepared with some ideas for the Lab 2: Video analysis of Projectile Motion

Brainstormed Ideas so far:
1.  Drag on soccer ball, spin vs. knuckle
2.  Rocket: Acceleration and Velocity of, Drag and windspeed.
3.  Arrow launch:  Range vs. Angle
4.  Shot put/Javelin -- optimum angle
5.  Human acceleration:  sprint & long jump analysis
6.  Baskeball???    More Backspin vs.  less backspin
7.  Potato Cannon???
8. Water balloon launcher??

Try to  think of an experiment that can actually answer a question about the relationship between 2 variables.   Remember the KIS rule.

Homework due dates and what you should be working on.

To avoid too much confusion:

The graphical analysis worksheet should be completed by this Friday.

The Quest assignment Kinematics 1 has a due date posted on the site and represents the date and time when answers will no longer be accepted and when the worked out solutions will be available.
Show your work in a dedicated spiral "Homework journal" so we can have conversations about how you are approaching the problems.

Your "insightful" letter is due by next Monday. Please give it a little thought an keep it under 2 pages pleases.

Friday we will use our labquests to collect data on the relationship between mass of a falling body and terminal velocity.
